What We Work On

Gas fireplaces

— Direct-vent units, gas log sets, pilots, thermocouples and thermopiles, valves, burners, glass, blowers, and remote controls. Wood fireplaces — Masonry fireplaces, dampers, fireboxes, smoke and draft problems, and North Idaho chimney issues: creosote buildup, cracked crowns, freeze-thaw masonry damage.

How We Work

::: steps Investigate — We start by finding the fault: checking thermopile voltage, draft, and venting before anything gets touched. Isolate the cause — A pilot that won't stay lit is usually a weak thermocouple, a clogged orifice, or a weak thermopile. We pin it down. Fix it right — Parts get replaced only when we have found the cause. Twenty minutes finding the right answer beats swapping parts on a guess. :::

Safety Comes First

We inspect following NFPA 211 practices — chimneys, fireplaces, and vents checked each year for soundness, deposits, and clearances. We never bypass a safety device to get a fireplace running.

Our gas-odor protocol is simple and non-negotiable: shut the unit off, leave the house, and call the gas utility. For wood-burning systems, the annual inspection is also when creosote gets checked — once buildup reaches 1/8 of an inch, it is time to clean, and in a six-month heating season, regular wood burners often get there faster than once a year.

When to Call

September through October is when North Idaho homeowners should get their fireplaces serviced — before the heating season, not during the first cold snap. Pilots that died over summer, thermopiles that weakened in disuse, and chimneys that collected a season's worth of creosote are all easier to deal with before you actually need the heat. Masonry repairs are even more time-sensitive: mortar needs temperatures above about 40–50°F to cure, so a cracked crown spotted in September can be fixed properly, while the same crack in January has to wait out the winter.

An Honest Note

Idaho issues a state hearth-appliance HVAC specialty certificate for certain gas and venting work, and NFI certification is the industry's leading voluntary program — but we make no claim to hold any license or certification. Idaho has no chimney-sweep license at all. We believe in stating what we do plainly and letting the work speak.

Rooted in Post Falls

North Idaho is where we work, and winter is when it matters. The cold-flue fires that won't draw on the first cold morning, the spalling brick from repeated freeze-thaw, the October startup failures after months idle — these are seasonal patterns we live with every year. That is the advantage of a fireplace-focused shop in Post Falls: we have seen your exact problem before, in houses like yours.

You will find us near Syringa Park at 555 N Syringa St — not a Coeur d'Alene company that covers Post Falls secondarily, and not a national template page. Call us at +1 (208) 668-8111 and tell us what your fireplace is doing — we will take it from there.
